I'm using a 15-inch mid 2012 MacBook Pro. I've been using OS X Yosemite as the operating system for the past two years but felt the need to upgrade to OS X El Capitan as OS X Yosemite doesn't seem to be synchronising my Yahoo email account and recently my notes and Safari. The Winebottler application doesn't connect to the Internet but it used to last year. I tried upgrading to OS X El Capitan and then downgrading to OS X Mavericks. While OS X El Capitan took care of all the issues(synchronised everything and Winebottler was able to connect to the Internet), it seemed to run more warmly and consumed more power on the average while OS X Mavericks seemed to provide the best battery life but caused similar problems to OS X Yosemite regarding Safari and synchronisation.

May 01, 2017 El Capitan may be struggling with your Wi-Fi settings. Apple has released updates to try and improve this problem, so first check for any updates to OS X and see if you can download a solution. Hello so I am currently having a black screen issue on OBS, My Graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB, And I run on a MacBook Pro (El Capitan Version 10.11.6 (15G22010)). If you’re running High Sierra (10.13), Sierra (10.12), or El Capitan (10.11), upgrade to macOS Catalina from the App Store. If you’re running Lion (10.7) or Mountain Lion (10.8), you will need to upgrade to El Capitan (10.11) first. If you don’t have broadband access, you can upgrade your Mac at any Apple Store. Requires MacBook Pro.

- Jul 19, 2015 And after checking your basic configuration, I think you should be cautious on installing el capitan, although overall feedback is somewhat positive. For el capitan installation, there are two obvious ways to do it. Through Apple developer portal to download installation app to install. Through Apple public beta page to install.

Essentially, I'd like to know why OS X El Capitan is consuming more power on the average than OS X Yosemite and OS X Mavericks? Should I use OS X El Capitan? If so, how could I reduce its power consumption to prevent a decrease in battery life? Should I use OS X Yosemite? If so, how could I fix the issues of synchronisation of Yahoo Mail, notes and Safari? Please explain these issues and advise me on how I should go about this if possible. Thanks.
